Building a Data-Driven Future for Africa's Environment

Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CleanUp Multi Dynamic Concept (CleanUp MDC) to support AI-powered environmental innovation, sustainability, and data-driven waste management across Nigeria and Africa.

The agreement marks CleanUp MDC as the first incubatee under Nest Africa's incubation program. It also sets the stage for a new wave of locally grounded environmental technology focused on practical waste collection, recycling, and community impact.

CleanUp MDC is a Nigerian company using an AI-powered, toll-free voice platform called JoliTrash to connect waste collectors with recycling centers. Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab will provide strategic guidance, technical expertise, and data-driven support to help strengthen and scale the model.

The signing ceremony was held at the Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab office in Kaduna. Leaders from both organizations attended, including Yazid S. Mikail, Founder and CEO of Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab, and Yahuza Sani Hudu, Founder and CEO of CleanUp MDC.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to addressing Africa's growing waste management and plastic pollution challenges through technology, data, and community engagement. Under the MoU, both organizations will work on an action plan and proposal framework for long-term sustainability and growth.

Nest Africa AI Innovation Lab will support the development of predictive models, data dashboards, and AI-powered systems designed to strengthen the waste management ecosystem. The partnership also establishes a foundation for ethical innovation, shared learning, and transparent collaboration.

For Nest Africa, this milestone also marks the official launch of its incubation program, a key strategy for nurturing Africa's next generation of AI innovators. CleanUp MDC stands as the program's first incubated project, showing what can happen when innovation meets purpose.

As both organizations move forward, their shared ambition is clear: to make environmental data accessible, actionable, and transformative for communities across Africa.
