Who We Are
Nest Africa Artificial Intelligence Innovation Lab is a non-profit organization building Africa’s climate intelligence and AI governance infrastructure. We develop data-driven systems, research, and policy frameworks that enable governments, communities, and institutions to make informed decisions for climate adaptation, resilience, and sustainable development.
We translate local data into actionable insights, build AI-powered tools for real-world decision-making, and support governance systems that enable responsible and inclusive AI adoption. We operate through a focused portfolio model spanning climate AI systems, governance and policy, and strategic partnerships.
Through this approach, Nest Africa ensures that AI solutions are locally grounded, institutionally adopted, and capable of delivering sustained impact. Rooted in the principle of “for Africa, by Africans,” we are committed to strengthening local ownership of data, innovation, and decision-making.

The Strategic Shift
In our first year, Nest Africa focused on demonstrating what is possible, proving that locally led, applied AI innovation can deliver meaningful impact even in resource-constrained environments.
However, 2025 made one thing clear: impact at scale requires focus. As the climate crisis accelerates and AI becomes deeply embedded in decision-making systems, Africa faces a dual challenge—the need for localized, data-driven tools for climate resilience, and the urgent need for governance frameworks that ensure responsible, equitable, and locally relevant technology deployment.
In response, we are making a deliberate strategic shift—from a broad AI innovation approach to a focused model centered on two core priorities: Climate AI Systems and Governance, Policy & Public Innovation.
